Aerial of the Hamburger Sternwarte.
Hamburger Sternwarte operates several optical and radio telescopes for research and teaching purposes. Only part of them are on site in Bergedorf, as they are the Oskar-Lühning telescope (OLT), the Kleines Radioteleskop (KRT3) and several smaller optical telescopes. The historic telescopes are used for public outreach.
North of Hamburg in Norderstedt a station of the radio LOFAR interferometer is located. The workhorses of optical observations are the TIGRE telescope in Guanajato/Mexico and the Planet Transit Survey Telescope (PTST) in Spain. All these telescopes are operated semi-automatically and are remotely controlled.
