KRT3 Radio Telescope - Characteristics and operation modes

The Kleines Radio Teleskop KRT3  is a  radio telescope made of a parabolic dish of 3m diameter and a digital receiver. The telescope has an azimuthal mounting, allowing to move the antenna freely in azimuth and elevation. The antenna is made of a thin wire mesh supported by a frame of aluminium, which reflects the incoming microwave radiation and focuses it on the feedhorn.

  • Receiver bandwidth:
    • 125 kHz with 2 kHz frequency resolution
    • 250 kHz with 4 kHz frequency resolution
    • 500 kHz with 8 kHz frequency resolution
    • 1200 kHz with 8 kHz frequency resolution*
      * This bandwidth is pieced together by three overlapping observations of 500 kHz bandwidth.
