The library of the observatory of Hamburg exists since the foundation of the observatory at 1833 and the inventory covers about 70.000 books today. The library - one of most beautiful librarys in Hamburg - is placed in the historical main room as well as five other rooms in the main building.
Here you can find current astronomy/astrophysics literature - books, magazines, CD-ROMs or online offerings -, which can be researched in the online catalogue of the university. The older parts of the library are positioned seperate. The most valuable historical editions include Tycho Brahes "Astronomia Instauratae Mechanica" (1602) or Johannes Keplers "Tabulae Rudolphinae" (1627).
