Research: The Ca IRT as an activity indicator
Several indicators to determine whether a star is active or not exist. Possibly the most famous among them are the Calcium H- and K-lines, which show strong emission in the line core. From this, the well-known S index can be calculated.
In my work, I investigate spectra to see if the parameters describing the Calcium Infrared Triplet (IRT) lines are correlated with known activity indicators, with the goal of obtaining a new way of measuring the activity of a star.
