The Graduiertenkolleg (GrK) 1351 "Extrasolar Planets and their Host Stars" is a joint GrK between the Hamburger Sternwarte of the University of Hamburg, the Institut für Astrophysik of the University of Göttingen and the Max-Planck-Institut für Sonnensystemforschung. It is dedicated to the common exploration of — as the title already suggests — extrasolar planets and their parent stars. The interplay of the two in formation, evolution and characteristics is the main focus of this project.

A Graduiertenkolleg or Research Training Group is a DFG funded project to provide support for Ph.D. students and a few young Postdocs. This GrK was granted in 2006. It started Jan. 1, 2007 and is funded for at least 4.5 years.

Important news as of September 29: We offer 4 PhD and 1 Post doc position starting Jan. 1. 2010.
