{\Large\sc Instruction for authors: LaTeX template and style files}
\end{center}

\vspace{1cm} The Proceedings of the 13th Cool Stars Workshop will be
published in the ESA Special Publications series (ESA SP) with a
target date of beginning 2005. To achieve this date is essential that
authors deliver their papers by the September 10 deadline. All papers
must be written using the designated LaTeX macros and submitted
electronically. The maximum number of pages per paper are as follows:

\begin{center}
{\begin{itemize}
\item Invited reviews: 10 pages
\item Contributed talks: 8 pages
\item Posters: 4 pages
\end{itemize}}
\end{center}

The convenors of the splinter sessions should contact the proceedings
editor (\texttt{Fabio.Favata@rssd.esa.int}), if the have not already
done so, to discuss the specific requirements of the splinter session
summary.

We ask each author to make sure that the size of the postscript file
of his/her article, using the macros below, is within the above page
limits. Of course, there is no need to fill the allowed space. If you
believe you need extra space please contact the editors prior
to sending your paper.

The deadline for submitting papers is {\bf 10 September 2004}. Yes, we
know it is tight, but we also believe that prompt publication of the
proceedings is beneficial to authors.

In order to prepare your paper, you need to download the files {\bf
  sample.tex} and {\bf ESASPCS13Style.cls}.  The first file is a
template with instructions, and the second is the LaTeX document class
to be used. Please, do not use any other style files. You may also
wish to retrieve the file {\bf sample.ps}, which is the postscript
file of sample.tex and shows the resulting layout of
our example.

All files can be downloaded from our ftp server,\\
\textbf{ftp://astro.esa.int/pub/ffavata/CS13/Instructions}

\vspace{0.3cm} Use the following unique naming scheme for your
contribution: first initial plus last name, e.g. jsmith.tex. Figures
should be named similarly, namely jsmithf1.eps, jsmithf2.eps, etc.
If you present more than one paper, please number them as
jsmith1.tex, jsmith2.tex, etc. In this case the corresponding
figures should be named jsmith1\_1.eps,
jsmith1\_2.eps, jsmith2\_1.eps, etc.

Once you have all your files ready, please create either a .tar
archive or a .zip archive of your files, name it either jsmith.tar or
jsmith.zip and upload it to the anonymous ftp address\\
{\bf ftp://astro.esa.int/pub/ffavata/in}

After submitting the paper please inform the editor immediately by
email at the address\\ {\bf Fabio.Favata@rssd.esa.int}.

If you have any questions regarding the macros also write to the
editor.

\vspace{0.3cm} If you have some ``social'' photos which you would like
to submit for publication in the proceedings, you are most welcome
to. The easiest would be to also upload a .tar or .zip file containing
the photographs and email us saying that you agree to the photos
being published. Proper credit will be given in the book.

\vspace{0.3cm} Note that the proceedings will be published in black
and white. The electronic version will contain the original pictures
as submitted, which may be in color. Please ensure however that your
material prints readably in black and white!

\vspace{0.3cm} Eventual multimedia material (animations, etc.) may be
considered for publication in a CD-ROM distributed with the book.
Contact the editor to discuss your requirements if you intend to make
use of this.
