PHOENIX support for GAIA

We are calculating model atmospheres grids and synthetic spectra relevant to the GAIA mission. The spectra being used to support the preparations in the areas of simulation, photometry, radial velocity and spectroscopy, and classification.

The basic grids

The grids are computed using Version 13.00.X of the Phoenix code. All models are calculated for a model star of one sun mass.
The grids are covering the parameter range:

Teff=2000 ... 10 000 K log(g)=-0.5 ... +5.5
[Z/H]=+0.5 ... -4.0 [α/H]=-0.2 ... +0.8

This is the latest status of the work:

Future activities

The next step is the extension to higher temperatures and an update of the old grids to newer PHOENIX versions. At the moment we are testing a first grid of Teff = 10 000 ... 50 000 K using version 13.06.X. A status report will be avaible, when the tests are finished.
